Job Title: Sport Director

Location: Atosin Idanre, Ondo

Job Description

  • The Sports Director plays a pivotal role in leading, managing, and growing the athletic programs at our organization in Nigeria.
  • This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our sports offerings, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for participants of all ages and skill levels.

Program Development & Management:

  • Plan, develop, and implement a variety of sports and recreational programs for a diverse range of participants (consider including youth, adults, beginners, and competitive levels).
  • Oversee the scheduling, logistics, and smooth operation of all sports programs, including practices, games, tournaments, and events.
  • Identify and address community needs, developing new sports programs to meet those interests.
  • Manage the budget for sports equipment, uniforms, facilities rentals, and program supplies.

Coaching & Staff Management:

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise qualified coaches and sports staff.
  • Ensure coaches adhere to established policies, safety guidelines, and fair play principles.
  • Provide professional development opportunities for coaches to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment among the sports staff.

Facility Management & Operations:

  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of sports facilities (consider including fields, courts, gyms, and equipment).
  • Ensure facilities comply with all safety regulations and are well-maintained for optimal use.
  • Schedule facility usage for various sports programs and events.

Community Outreach & Promotion:

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote sports programs and increase participation.
  • Build relationships with local schools, community organizations, and sporting bodies.
  • Organize events and initiatives that encourage community engagement in sports activities.
  • Oversee communication channels to keep participants, parents, and the community informed about sports programs.

Compliance & Administration:

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant sports regulations and league guidelines.
  • Manage risk management procedures to ensure participant safety and well-being.
  • Oversee the registration process for sports programs and maintain accurate participant records.
  • Prepare reports and budgets as required by the organization or governing bodies.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in sports administration or a relevant field.
  • Proven track record of developing and managing successful sports programs.
  • Strong understanding of various sports, rules, and regulations (specific sports may be required depending on the organization).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people, including participants, coaches, parents, and community members.
  • Passion for sports development and promoting physical activity within the Nigerian community.

Additional Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working in the Nigerian sports landscape and knowledge of local regulations is a plus.
  • Experience in budgeting, facility management, and marketing is beneficial.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
