Fish Farming Training Consultant (60 Days) Job in Nigeria

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Fish Farming Training Consultant (60 Days)

Location: Mubi North and South - Adamawa



Employment Type: Contract
Contract duration: 30 days (2 months)

Objective

  • The objective of this consultancy is to equip project participants with the necessary knowledge and skills in fish farming, enabling them to establish sustainable livelihoods and contribute to their communities' economic development.
  • The consultancy will consist of two phases: Phase 1 focuses on the basics of fish farming, and Phase 2 involves practical teaching and monitoring of participants' usage of provided start-up resources.

Scope of Work
Phase 1: Basics of Fish Farming (Days 1-20):
Develop a detailed training curriculum covering essential aspects of fish farming, including but not limited to:

  • Introduction to aquaculture and its importance
  • Fish species suitable for farming in the local context.
  • Pond construction and maintenance
  • Feeding and nutrition management
  • Disease prevention and management
  • Conduct training sessions for project participants, utilizing participatory and interactive teaching methods.
  • Provide hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises to reinforce theoretical knowledge.
  • Assess participants' understanding and address any questions or concerns.

Phase 2: Practical Teaching and Monitoring (Days 20-35):

  • Facilitate practical sessions for participants to apply their knowledge in real-life fish farming settings.
  • Provide guidance and supervision as participants set up their fish farms, utilizing start-up resources provided by the project.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to assess participants' progress, provide technical assistance, and address any challenges encountered.
  • Document success stories and lessons learned throughout the training process.

Deliverables:

  • Comprehensive training curriculum for fish farming.
  • Training sessions conducted as per schedule, with participation from project beneficiaries.
  • Regular progress reports detailing activities undertaken, challenges faced, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Monitoring reports documenting participants' progress and outcomes of practical teaching sessions.
  • Final report summarizing the consultancy's achievements, challenges, and recommendations for future interventions.

Qualifications

  • Interested candidates should possess a Ph.D. / Doctorates / MSc in relevant fields with 8 years work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in fish farming and aquaculture, preferably in a community development context.
  • Proven track record of conducting training and capacity-building activities, particularly with vulnerable groups.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
  • Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Mubi North and South, Nigeria, is desirable.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa is required; knowledge of local languages spoken in the project area is an asset.
