Haulage / Logistics Manager Job in Nigeria

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Haulage / Logistics Manager

Location: Lagos


Responsibilities

  • Manage client requests by understanding cargo needs, weight, size, and any special requirements (temperature control, security).
  • Match client needs with the most suitable truck type from our carrier network (box trucks, flatbeds, lowboy trailers, vans, tankers, refrigerated trucks, car carriers, dump trucks).
  • Oversee dispatch and tracking of shipments using dispatch software, ensuring real-time visibility and clear communication with clients and carriers.
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers, maintaining a reliable and cost-effective network.
  • Monitor carrier performance, ensuring adherence to schedules, safety regulations, and proper cargo handling procedures.
  • Manage logistics documentation, including bills of lading, weight tickets, and delivery confirmations.
  • Analyze data and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and client satisfaction.
  • Prepare reports on key logistics metrics for the CEO.
  • Travel to meet with clients and carriers as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in haulage and logistics.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new logistics strategies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in logistics management or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the Nigerian haulage industry is a must.
  • Excellent understanding of domestic transportation regulations and permit requirements in Nigeria.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and dispatch/tracking software (experience with specific software a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
