Job Title: Basic Computer Literacy for Adolescents and Young People

Location: Mushin, Lagos

Duration: 3 months

Description 

  • We are seeking a talented and passionate Basic Computer Literacy Tutor to join our team, specializing in providing hands-on computer instruction to adolescents and young children.
  • This role involves teaching basic computer skills and the use of common office software such as email, internet access, and other productivity tools. The ideal candidate will have the required skills to build the competence of learners in the use of computers.
  • Additionally, this candidate will support the SHE Hub in Ikeja 2 days a week, assisting learners with increasing their proficiency with computer use.

Responsibilities
Basic Computer Instruction:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate basic computer literacy curriculum and lesson plans for adolescents and young persons.
  • Teach fundamental computer skills, including typing, email use, and basic internet navigation.
  • Demonstrate the proper use of office tools and video conferencing software, ensuring safety and proper maintenance of devices.

Mentorship and Support:

  • Provide guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback to students, helping them build confidence and develop their computer skills.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and empowered to learn and grow.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience teaching adolescents and young people.

Competencies:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and connect with young persons.
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach the proper use of computers and office software to students.
  • Ability to design and deliver effective lessons to students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with adolescents and young people.

Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to undergo background checks and any necessary certifications related to working with children.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate class schedules and events.
